University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center
The University of Iowa Burn Treatment Center is the only burn center in the state of Iowa. In addition the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons have officially verified them as a center of excellence. The burn center includes a 17-bed inpatient unit that offers critical and acute care, outpatient services and rehabilitation support. Throughout treatment, burn and wound patients receive care from experts in their field. The Burn Treatment Center has a multidisciplinary team monitoring the patients’ plan of care, wound healing, and assists with discharge planning and follow-up care. The expert team is made up of physicians, licensed providers, nurses, therapists, social workers, pharmacists, dieticians, child life specialists, chaplains, and a wide variety of other consulting services.
